Sam has always loved being read to and he's now at the age where we can start reading longer, chapter books. Here's a great list of read-aloud books for three to eight year olds.

I don't know what I'd do with these, but I want to make some!

These doughnuts are supposedly amazing. I'm thinking sucanat instead of white sugar and at least half whole wheat, don't you think they'd still be delish?

Mud painting, what a fun idea!

This whipped coconut cream looks amazing! How did I not know you could do this?! This and the flower blossom jelly (below) have just moved to the top of my To Try list.

I decided to take off for the weekend with the kids! We're at their grandma and grandpa's house and having a lovely time. But here are a few fun things for you that caught my eye this week.
Do you think there's a way to combine these crystal egg geodes and these dinosaur eggs (that I'm kind of obsessed with) into a grow-your-own-geode kind of thing?

I've been thinking about making my own chocolate chips...

These painted dish towels are so cheerful; they would be a fun project to do with kids and then have on hand to take as a gift when you go to a friend's for dinner or tuck in a welcome basket for a new neighbor. (Here's another fun project; hip potato stamps!)

May Day is coming up! I have happy memories of making May Day cones with my mom; perhaps I'll revive the tradition with my kids and brighten the neighbors' day while I'm at it:)

These sandals are so cute and fun! I'm thinking we could make something similar though, don't you think? Maybe cutting up an old pair of flip flops, or some craft foam and super gluing them to the bottom of a pair of flops... Couldn't be too hard, right?

I really love the idea of an articles club. Wouldn't this be the perfect thing for sitting around with a bunch of other moms, in someone's backyard on a warm summer evening (while the kids are somewhere else...), sipping lemonade with your feet in the grass? Who's in?

Gold mine! Just found this post with a bunch of healthy Easter (or anytime) treats! I'm definitely seeing something with chocolate and coconut in my future...
And speaking of Easter, how fun are these paper mache eggs?

Would somebody please make a healthier version of these cookies and share the recipe with me? Chocolate + black sesame seeds + soy sauce(!) It sounds amazing!

Clay loves those hard little sesame candies. These look even tastier and easy to make. I might whip some up this weekend. Apparently they're a Greek Easter treat, so if not this weekend, definitely for Easter!

When I was a kid we had a bird feed that fit right in the window (just like this one!). It had one-way glass with a mirror on the bird side. We would sit and eat our breakfast while the birds sat only a foot away eating theirs. We never got tired of it. Here's a tutorial for building something similar.
I get so excited when the seasons change and new fruits and veggies start appearing in the markets. One of my favorites is asparagus, as much for the taste as for the fact that it's a herald of spring. This recipe looks delicious!
Are you itching to get in the garden? Clay just planted some peas and greens last weekend; I can't wait for them to come up! And I love these little seed pots.
We're kind of addicted to roasted seaweed around here, but I feel so bad about all the packaging. I thought I might try to make it myself...
I expect we'll spend a large part of the weekend out of doors (maybe with a little inspiration from this book!); how about you? Here's to a peaceful and leisurely weekend enjoying this blissful weather!

This coconut crust, chocolate cream pie sounds awesome, and it only has four ingredients! If I make it I think I'll swap the sweetened coconut out for regular coconut and just sweeten it myself with a little honey or maple syrup. The sweetened stuff has freaky ingredients.

I'm currently in a no shampoo phase, but when I am using some sort of soap on my hair, I love this old-fashioned shampoo bar. This recipe for a homemade shampoo bar looks fantastic and I'm almost tempted to switch back to shampoo just so I can try it...

I'm feeling spring in the air, how about you? Seems like the perfect weather for... seed bombs! Heart-shaped, of course.

Oops, sorry about that! I've been too busy making and doing to actually write about making and doing! Clay's family is in town and we've been to a historic farm, the library, made cookies, are making kites and planning more fun for tomorrow!

My goodness, how is it Friday already?! That week just flew past! Here's hoping the weekend stretches out nice and long. And here are a few fun things to fill it, like making your own hip beanbags!

Little paper toys to make, perfect for drizzly weather and chilly days.

This is a BEAUTIFUL quilt made from felted wool scraps. I'm wondering if I have enough in my stash to make one... It looks so cozy! (And speaking of cozy things, these aren't so much a make and do, but you could totally buy some of these cozy fish and support the artist- I love them!)

Two foxy things, a sweatshirt and this cute valentine. (Are foxes the new birds?)

Have your gardening catalogs already started arriving? I've already got a few pages of Seed Savers dog-eared... Here's a great idea to remember come spring, if you don't have a lot of space.
