So, despite my inability to sew buttons onto a few dresses (still not done...), Sam somehow caught me at a good moment and convinced me to help him sew a rabbit for Viv.
This are my favorite kind of project: spur of the moment, no pattern, just making something for the love of creation (and the love of a little sister). And how could I say no to Sam? Whe came in and asked if he could have a little scrap of fabric I said, "Sure. What's it for?" "To make a little stuffed animal for Viv." Aww. He wanted to do a rabbit, so we sketched a very simple one (I swear I made the ears SO wide, but they still came out skinny!), cut it out, sewed and stuffed it. Sam wanted to stuff it with wheat berries so we did that for the ears and the base so it can stand up. It probably took 20 minutes start to finish, which was about right for his attention span.
He was so excited to give it to Vivi when she woke up from her nap. I held my breath as he handed it to her, but she was the most gracious and grateful gift recipient. She immediately hugged it to her and squealed, "Rabbit!" and has been loving it ever since.
