Clay did a family portrait for some good friends of ours. Instead of the regular portraits he usually does, this was an individual portrait of each family member. Hung on the wall together it makes one cohesive family portrait with room to grow! Click through to see some of the individual portraits up close.
Isn't it amazing how purple or green hair looks so natural and normal? I love the stylized two-color look of these. It elevates a simple portrait to something a little more unique, a little more hip. Our friend Olya, the mom of the bunch, claimed that despite always having a camera with her, they haven't actually had a decent family portrait in years, and definitely not since the youngest was born. These portraits worked out so well because she could just email us her favorite pics and Clay combined them all into one awesome arrangement.
It's amazing to me how a painting can sometimes capture more of a person than a photo. Maybe it's because you can work in all the best elements of the person: best smile, with good hair day, minus those wrinkles around your eyes. Clay has a way of arranging all the elements and adding details like pattern and texture that presents people in their best light.
(What a rad couple; these guys really are as awesome as they look:)
