Sam is on a bike ride with a friend, Vivian is napping, and I'm enjoying the stillness, a little remembering and some day dreaming. The taste of summer in Maine is still lingering; it just might carry me through these winter months. That and some knitting, hot chocolate and a few good novels (any suggestions for a cozy read?).
In between the wedding and the airport we stopped for a nature walk at Robert Frost's farm.
With the lobster, the beach and the time spent with family, I'm already plotting my return:)How is it that she is walking, talking, signing and so chock full of personality? Wasn't this was only yesterday?
We also had plenty of adventures here in our beloved desert home, including some close encounters with bugs (see the green katydid on his hand? It's kind of camouflaged.), harvesting EIGHT giant pumpkins from our teeny, tiny garden, growing and drying amaranth (which I have yet to thresh; I have no idea how to go about it; anyone out there with any threshing experience?), some sewing, some writing, all those good and simple things that fill up a day, a week, a season.
I love the time of year when one season is fading into the next; it feels ripe with possibilites and change. Don't you think change is exciting? I've recently organized my studio in anticipation of productive mornings spent writing and reading. That first day of school feeling must be hard wired into me; I have the urge to sharpen copious amounts of pencils and line them all up:)
Vivi should be waking up soon and I have a couple more things to do before she toddles our here, bright and cheerful and ready to play. A few more things before I go:
- I'm doing this fitness challenge and I can't wait!! Hooray for change, new seasons and new challenges! When I was in my best shape ever I could do 17 pull ups; I can now do one, maybe two on a good day. So, my goal is 17 again! Grrrr!!
- TWO really big surprises that I SO wish I could share right now! I'm the worst at keeping happy surprises (not pregnant!), but I will try and stay mum until I can share...
- We've been making these lately and loving them (especially with a few chocolate chips) for a not-too-sweet, but still yummy and indulgent treat. They're perfect with a big glass of fresh milk too.
- I finally got benches to go with my table (thanks, love!). We're loving having friends over and filling up our huge (9ft. long!) table with food and laughter.
Thanks for keeping in touch!
