I have two treats for you this weekend! Annie, of Bird and Little Bird, creates the most charming animals; The Semi-Fantastic Mr. Fox, and the Mostly Marvelous Ms. Rabbit. For the craftily-inclined she also sells kits (in all sorts of colors and patterns) to make them yourself; how fun is that? I'm all about kits; you get the less fun part (the sourcing of materials) out of the way and just get to jump straight into the fun part. Of course, if you want to provide your own material, she also sells easy to follow patterns that you could use to make a whole family of sweet animals.
Annie also writes a charming blog where you can find crafting inspiration, book recommendations, recipes and fun activities for kids; check it out, I think you'll like it. Today she's offering TWO kits, a Mr. Fox and a Ms. Rabbit!
Maybe you have a little someone special with a birthday coming up, or a friend about to have a baby, or maybe you'd just like to try your hand at making one of these charming critters. I think one of these kits would make the best gift for a crafty friend too. Sometimes it's so hard to find the perfect gift for someone who's so handy, but with a present like this you'd be saluting their overall talented greatness and providing them an awesome, unique gift. I would be totally thrilled if someone got me a kit like this for my birthday. I'm not exactly a master crafter, but with good instructions and all the pieces there for me, I think I just might be able to swing it.
The second treat is a set of these adorable felt acorns from Sewn Natural! I'm so in love with them, I want a bowl of them sitting on my desk just to cheer me up whenever I look at them. I love tactile, beautiful, natural objects like this. It just seems like it's got to be so good for a little tike to roll these around in his chubby fingers, enjoying the colors and textures. She also suggests using these as favors and decorations for weddings or showers, which I think is so clever and unique. She makes sets in all one color so it would co-ordinate with your theme. Jennifer also maintains a beautiful blog with lots of sewing projects and kid-friendly ideas. Have a peek!
And definitely check out the Sewn Natural shop; they have beautiful, classy children's clothing, and clever things like car seat organizers in charming fabric. Take the time to browse through their pages, there's a lot there and I'm sure you'll love it all.
