Lately I've been thinking a lot about pursuing your dreams. Then I came across this feature in Martha Stewart called Dreamers into Doers and latched onto the phrase. The last two issues had articles about people who had jumped wholeheartedly into their dreams. One was about a couple who lives on an island off the coast of Maine and makes amazing, artisan chocolate for a living, utilizing local ingredients. And the other was a selection of cheese makers in Vermont that all lived on their farms making delicious, gourmet cheeses.
Both of these articles stirred my imagination and got me thinking about our dreams. I think it's so important to nurture and cultivate your dreams, lest you get mired down in the simple day to day living, bill paying, meal making, house cleaning etc. and forget to raise your eyes up and look at what could be ahead. Of course, there's certainly something to say for being content and happy with the present as well. We're very happy and comfortable where we're at right now, but we also have SO many dreams and things we want to do! We'd love to move out somewhere we could have some land and build a house of our own design, there are books to write and illustrate, sculptures and paintings to make, sheep to raise, wool to spin, countries to visit, furniture to design...
I've started a file of inspiring people who are passionately and fearlessly following their dreams, to inspire and remind me to nurture my own dreams, such that some day (soon!) I'll find myself smack dab in the middle of them, living those beautiful, crazy, exciting dreams!
What are you dreaming of???
