Harvesting these coriander seeds put me right in the mood
for fall. I love harvest season,
pumpkins, spices, the smell of dry leaves, that crisp autumn air, things baking
in the oven and jars lining the pantry shelves.
I love that you can use the leaves (cilantro) and the seeds (coriander)
of this plant. We have more seeds on
some of the other coriander plants, but this one was just already dried up and
ready to be harvested; I couldn't resist.
The flavor of the seeds is really delicious, more multi-dimensional than store-bought coriander. I can’t wait to add it to some Indian dishes or crack some to sprinkle over the tops of loaves of bread.
