Remember when I mentioned that I’d been using honey to
condition and moisturize my hair? Well,
I was also using baking soda and vinegar to clean it. I wanted to give it a good month before I
reported the results. The short version
is that I’m using Aubrey’s shampoo and conditioner again, BUT less frequently
and I will definitely use baking soda and vinegar every now and then to keep my hair
balanced and healthy. I felt like my
hair was its healthiest when I wasn’t putting anything but those two things in
it (and the occasional scoop of honey). And
just so you don’t think I’m a dirty hippy, here’s a picture of the baking soda
and vinegared hair; do you have any idea how hard it is to take a picture of
the back of your own head? But I have
curly hair and it just wasn’t as manageable without some actual
“products.” But as far as products go,
Aubrey’s are great, all natural and mostly organic. They’ve been my favorite for a long
time. Oh, and one great benefit of not
using shampoo or conditioner is that my hair became way more balanced and I
could go longer between washings because it just didn’t get greasy. So, give it a shot. It’s summer, the perfect time for your hair
to get a little weird since you’re probably outside with it in a pony tail most
of the time anyway. I just love the idea
of doing and making things for myself that most people see as “must buy
necessities.” I came across a recipe for
flax seed hair gel that I’m going to try out one of these days…
